William C. “Sonny”
Ragan II, 54, of Hixson passed away Tuesday,
February 17, 2009 at a local hospital.
He was a member and
Elder at Mountain Creek Church of Christ.
He was preceded in
death by his parents; William C. and Barbara
Kinslow Ragan, sister; Beverly Brown.
He is survived by his
wife; Sharron D. Ragan of Hixson, Jackie Ragan of
East Ridge, Danielle Ragan of Hixson, sister;
Sonya Conner of Fairview, TX.
Funeral service
were Thursday afternoon wiht
Minister Gary Massey and Minister Eddie Reachard

Bob Rains Sr.
Robert Leander
"Bob" Rains Sr., 80, of Chattanooga, passed
away Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at his residence.
He attended
Mountain Creek Church of Christ. He was
preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and
Maude Rains; and his brothers, Amos and
Charles Rains.
He is survived
by his wife, Merita Rains; son, Robert L.
Rains, of Pikeville; daughters, Judy Clark, of
Harrison, Joan Whitmire, of Chattanooga and
Rita Stevens, of Henagar, Ala.; brothers,
James Rains, of Chattanooga, Ike Rains, of
Knoxville and Joe Rains, of Dunlap; sister,
Katherine Smith, of Dunlap; along with eight
grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Charles J. “Jerry” Simmons |
Charles J. “Jerry” Simmons, 61, of
Chattanooga, died on Thursday, February 25,
2009 in a local hospital after complications
following surgery.
Jerry was born May 10, 1947 and attended
East Ridge High School, McKenzie Business
College and the University of Tennessee at
Chattanooga. He worked for the State of
Tennessee Human Services Department, Ryerson
Steel, Southern Foundry and most recently
with PSC Metals, Inc. as HSET manager.
He was a member of the Central Church of
Christ, American Society of Safety
Engineers, board member of the Half Century
Club, Junior Achievement Counselor, member
of the 1988 Chattanooga School System
Excellence Team, former President of the
Rivermont Elementary PTO and board member of
the North River YMCA.
He bowled
competitively for many years and loved
attending UTC basketball games.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
Thomas L. Simmons and Ruthie Brown Simmons
of East Ridge, Tn.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years,
Priscilla Cartwright Simmons; daughters,
Elizabeth Simmons Fountain and son-in-law,
Mical Fountain of Fort Myers, Fl., and
Kristina Sarah Simmons, of Chattanooga;
grandson, James Douglas Fountain of Fort
Myers, Fl.; brother, Thomas Simmons, Jr. of
Ringgold, Ga., and sister, Linda Posey,
all of Chattanooga.

Roden, Maggie Donelson

26, 2009
Maggie Donelson Roden, 87, of Chattanooga,
died on Thursday, February 26, 2009.
She was a member of the Church of Christ and
resided in Rapid City, Il., where she owned
Roden Tax Accounting Firm before moving to
Chattanooga in 2002.
She was preceded in death by her husband,
Carlos Roden, four brothers, and one sister.
Survivors include her children, Sharon
(Kenneth) Mink, of Ringgold, Carlie Roden of
Columbia, Mo., Robert Roden of Bettendorf,
Iowa, Don (Ruth) Roden of Hixon and
Susan Tisdale of Tallassee, Fl.; 12
grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere
appreciation to Life Care of Missionary Ridge
for their devoted care and love.

Perkinson, Mildred M.

Mildred M. Perkinson, 90, of
Chattanooga, died on Monday,
December 01, 2008. Her last breath
was with praise of Jesus Lord on her
lips.
She was the widow of her first
husband and "love of her life," C.C.
Peek, Commissioner, US Federal
Mediation and Conciliation Service;
and widow of her second husband,
Alvin P. Perkinson, both of
Chattanooga.
She was a native of West Tennessee
where she received her education and
followed a career in office
management and as a housewife. She
was a faithful member of the
Mountain Creek Church of Christ.
Survivors include her two sisters,
Helen (Bob) Coulter, Chattanooga and
Dartha (Bill) Kaytes, Cookstown,
N.J.; brother, Warren Hall (Janice)
Maclin, Knoxville; 21 nieces and
nephews; several great-nieces and
nephews.

J.A. Hicks
J.A. Hicks, 81, of Red Bank, passed away
Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, in a local
hospital.
J.A. was a faithful member of
Mountain Creek Church of Christ. Before
graduating from Red Bank High School in
1948, he was a member of the football
team, was selected as an All-City
Baseball Player and was scouted by
professional baseball teams. J.A. was a
U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
After 42 years of service, he retired
from Combustion Engineering.
He was preceded in death by his
mother, Susie Lewis Hicks, and father,
Justus Hicks.
Survivors include his wife of 58
years, Dot Hicks; sons and
daughters-in-law, Jay and Jane Hicks and
David and Jean Hicks; daughter and
son-in-law, Andrea and Jose Hechavarria;
sisters, Beatrice Gunnell, of
Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and Margaret Duggar,
of Snellville, Ga.; 13 grandchildren,
Jason, Stacey, Jennifer, Rusty, Jeremy,
Kristen, Jamie, Kevin, Jonathan, Jordan,
Jenna, Elizabeth and Andrew; and six
great-grandchildren, Emme, Jackson,
Maddie, Ally, Luke and Matthew.
